Basic Information regarding lens types for orders done via correspondence
LENS DESIGNS AND COATINGS EXPLAINED FOR SAFETY PRESCRIPTION E-ORDER’S
Which lens design would you require?:
Lens Design:
1) SINGLE VISION
Reading OR Distance - *PD measurement has been supplied by the optom on your script which is the only measurement needed to place and order for Single Vision – please advise if for Reading only OR Distance only?
These lenses offer one focal length only, meaning the entire lens has the same power.
They do not have different zones for different distances, unlike bifocal or progressive lenses. BF and MF explained below.
BIFOCAL
*Lens design with a visual ½ moon segment positioned at the bottom of the lens which is where the wearer looks through for reading and above the line is distance optics for walking around. Appointment required for us to take the bifocal measurements applicable to the frame model chosen/try-on at the appointment in which a Quote will follow afterwards. Booking link via our website.

MULTIFOCAL
*Also referred to as a ‘Progressive’ lens which is a blended design (unlike a Bifocal) which allows the wearer to look to the bottom of the lens for reading and to the top of the lenses for distance. It is a corridor design, meaning the optical clarity runs up and down the center in which the wearers pupils sit in the chosen frame model (in which they need to ‘follow’ their nose when wanting full clarity).
Appointment required for us to take the Multifocal measurements applicable to the frame model chosen/try-on at the appointment in which a Quote will follow afterwards. Booking link via our website OR Via E-Order Photo process.

OCCUPATIONAL
Also referred to as a ‘computer’ lens. Mostly used for office workers or roles in which the need to see past 3mtrs is not necessary (working within arms length). The lens optics will be Intermediate (1/2 of the patients reading magnification) vision at top section of the lens, progressing to their full reading strength at the bottom of lens. This lens allows the wearer to see 2 – 3mtrs through the top of the lens with full reading at bottom. Recommended to be supplied with an Anti-Reflection coating (AR). Lens Treatments:
a) CLEAR
*Consistently clear (Recommended to be supplied with an AR Coat. If an AR Coat is NOT requested for CLEAR only lenses, please be mindful of light refractions/doubling up whilst wearing them and the coating is unable to be ‘added’ on after the glasses have been supplied.
b) TRANSITIONS
*Also referred to as Photochromatic – a technology which is activated automatically when UV hits the front surface of the lens, to auto-darken and when inside (away from UV Rays) the lenses will be clear (from UV to inside, approx 60sec to completely clear themselves). This treatment will not block glare like a pair of a polarized sunglass lenses. If wearing Transition lenses whilst driving, please be aware of UV filters on front windscreens which affect the Transition technology and don’t allow it to darken for the wearer as much as it normally would when outside (not behind a vehicle’s windscreen).
c) POLARISED
*Dark all the time, polarized grey is available in safety prescription only. Unable to be used with LED screen (due to ‘black-out’ from the polarization on the screens), however, the optimal treatment for blocking glare from UV Rays (as it’s a film put upon the lenses, not impregnated into the lens material like Transitions are).
Which lens coating would you require? – *If a coating is not requested from the below 2 x options, the lenses would automatically be supplied with the standard ‘Super Hard’ Coating for safety (however, please be mindful of light refractions/doubling up whilst wearing them and the coating is unable to be ‘added’ on after the glasses have been supplied.

ii. ANTI-FOG COATING *Only applicable for Bolle branded frames and unable to be supplied in addition to an AR Coating (one-or-the-other)
